RELIMINAL Packet 0

The first RELIMINAL Packet is released - marking the start of this project & a moment in time where your input might be the most influential, it is a good time to join the Discord server if you like the overall idea & share your thoughts.

There is a clear idea for this game in my head,  which was brewing for quite a while when experiencing most of the currently available liminal & backrooms projects. There's already a lot of cliché backrooms games, some better, some worse - mostly about the same levels( 0 & 7).  What's bad is that too often there's no innovation - even the same levels could be interesting if they went off the typical course, at least a  bit to bring a little spark of joy. That'd require some risk to craft new ideas instead of reusing the already working ones. So, unfortunately - if you experience the key areas/levels in any game of this kind - Maybe you'll get "the" magical feeling twice or 3 times, but then everything is the same & you're left looking for new content that never arrives or more probably - you get bored & move on.

I remember how it felt to first experience it and I know how it feels now - it's like there's some kind of an unspoken "checklist" that devs go through to ensure they'll make the same game & not something new & interesting.

This won't be that kind of game

It probably will contain some areas or references to these other projects, but the focus here is on NEW content & ideas. There's so much untapped creativity for nostalgic/dream/anemoia/liminal games! Ideally I'd want not just this project to succeed on itself, but also begin a new chapter in this niche area of games. If we'll continue to repeat & use the same well known & working schemes the genre might just cannibalize itself completely & die off. That would be weird because at the same time the same aesthetics in photography are alive & well & there's constantly something new to see.

I'd appreciate your support with this project, I'll try to do my best to provide you with more fresh exploration, ambience, relaxation & spaces to dream about - that'll require some time though so be patient :)
